UP Min’s BS Biology undergoes assessment for international accreditation

The BS Biology Program of UP Mindanao held a 3-day assessment activities from 11-13 June 2024 for the AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance), a certifying body of quality assurance for higher education in the region. This is the 392nd edition of the program assessment along with the BS Computer Science in UP Mindanao, and two others in UP Visayas, simultaneously. The AUN-QA Team was greeted by Chancellor Lyre Murao, VCAA Annabelle Novero and QA Director Ritchie Mae Gamot, along with CSM Dean Cleto Nanola, Jr., DBSES Chair Junaldo Mantiquilla, DMPCS Chair Cinmayii Manliguez, and other University and College officials.

The BS Biology assessors, Dr. Wan Ahmad Kamil Mahmood of Universiti Sains Malaysia, and Dr. Boonprasert Surakratanasakul of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Thailand, conducted site visits to the University and Department facilities. Also, the stakeholders of the program like the students and alumni were interviewed about its implementation and the employers for the feedback on the output or graduates of the program. These activities validate the claims found in the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) submitted to AUN prior to the actual site visit. Although the initial report was presented to the University, the final rating report will be sent within two months after the validation.
